Carol J. Nokes, 73 of Danvers, formerly of Beverly, died unexpectedly Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Beverly Hospital. Born and raised in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Philip E. and Esther M. (Whitney) Nokes. She was a graduate of Beverly High school class of 1963 and Salem State class of 1967.
Carol taught at Bessie Buker School in Wenham for fifteen years. She worked at Johnny Appleseed's for nine years in retail receiving and at Beverly Hospital and Hunt Center in transport and food service for fifteen years.
She was a long-time member of Second Congregational Church in Beverly. She volunteered there, teaching Sunday school and working on several committees. She loved her cat George and enjoyed photography, traveling around England, antiquing, knitting and spending times with family and friends.
She is survived by her twin sister, Karen Varga and her husband, David; brother, David S. Nokes and his wife, Mary, and her sister-in-law, Judith A. Nokes. She was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth. She leaves nieces and nephews, Katherine and Kristin, Jimmy and Lyn, Margaret, Eva, and Charlie and several great nieces and nephews and cousins.
