Carlton D.'s Story
Naples, FL - Carlton Duncan Laing, 85, of Naples, Fla., formerly of Marblehead, Mass., passed away on March 30, Good Friday. He was born on February 21, 1933, in Boston, Mass., son of the late Dennis and Annie O’Neil of Everett.
In 1950, he became a member of the United States Marine Corps, which was a great source of pride for him. In 1958, Carl met Joanne, the love of his life, at Mosley’s on the Charles in Dedham, and they were married six months later. They spent many years in Marblehead where they raised their six children. He loved the time he spent coaching in the Marblehead Youth Hockey program. Carl and Joanne retired to Naples, Fla., where they enjoyed many years with good friends. Every year he entertained the crowd at the talent show with Louis Armstrong’s "What a Wonderful World." He was loved by everyone that met him, and he will be truly missed.
Carl leaves his family, who love him beyond measure; his wife of 60 years, Joanne F. Laing of Milton; his six children, Deborah Torchetti, her husband Al, Denise Ross, her husband Howard, Dennis Laing, his wife Jerilyn, Dianne Rodgers, her husband Kenny, Douglas Laing, Dana Laing, his wife Rebecca; his grandchildren, Christopher and Kelly Ross, Denna, Brianna and Alexandria Laing, Cassandra and Veronica Rodgers, Madison, Colby and Brody Laing.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018, at Our Lady, Star of the Sea, 85 Atlantic Ave., Marblehead, Mass.
