BEVERLY - Betty J. (Ford) Cleaves, 85, died Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at CareOne at Essex Park, Beverly, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late John W. Cleaves who died in 1974.
Born in Gardner, Mass., on September 16, 1932, she was the daughter of the late George E. Ford, and Doris L. (Adamson) Stiles.
Betty was employed at the United Shoe Machinery Corp., in Beverly, for many years. She was also a member of the Herman A. Spear Post #331, American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her son, and daughter-in-law, James A., and Karen Cleaves, of Palm Coast, Fla.; her daughter, and son-in-law, Dale R., and Mark Railo, of Kents Hill, Maine; three grandchildren, Kristina Desso, and her husband, Tony, of Stockbridge, Ga., Sarah Feliciano, and her husband, Louis, of Hampton, N.H., and Jonathan Railo, of Kents Hill, Maine; five great-grandchildren, James Desso, Anthony Desso Jr., Corey, Jonas, and Carly Feliciano; one brother, George Ford, of Templeton, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Tim Hudon, and his wife, Randi, of Merrimack, N.H. She was also predeceased by her son, Joseph M. Cleaves; her sister, Judith Hudon; and her brother, Lawrence Ford.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday in the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, at 1:30 p.m. Relatives and friends invited to attend. Interment will be held in Central Cemetery, Beverly. There are no visiting hours.
