BEVERLY - Benjamin E. Couillard 60, of Beverly died Monday, January 1, 2018 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Born in Salem he was the son of Albert A Couillard and Lillie A (Wilkinson) Couillard.
Ben is survived by his daughter, Cheri Couillard of Norwood; two brothers and two sisters, Andrew "Butch" Couillard of Beverly, and Dana Couillard and his wife, Monique of Dover, N.H., Victoria and her husband Andre Corbeil of Salem, and Trudy and her husband, Douglas of Sidney, Maine. and many nieces and nephews.
He also leaves special individuals in his life. His former sister- in-law, Laura Whalen-Couillard of Peabody. His former wife and long standing friend, Paula Scanlon of Beverly, and his lifelong friend, Gordon Foss of Beverly.
Ben was a master painter and sole proprietor of Ben Couillard Painting. He loved the thrill and freedom of fast motors and the outdoors: golfing, fishing, boating, jet skiing, and snowmobiling. In his youth, Ben was well- accomplished in competitive motor-cross racing, and he brought this Love for adventure into all the facets of his life. Ben was recognized over the years for his many gifts, talents, and professional accomplishments. He enjoyed time in the kitchen, and time in the home.
Ben had a special relationship with his beloved pet dogs. He was most peaceful and fulfilled when taking them for swims at the lake, and walking with them through the woods. Ben loved his family, as they loved him. He was stoic, honest, and kind. Recently when asked what was most important to him, Ben responded, "that everyone in the world would get along". Ben had a kind and gentle soul that touched the hearts of all who came to know him. He always put the needs of others before his own, and will forever be missed as a light in a dark sky.
Arrangements: His funeral service will be held in the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St, Beverly, MA 01915 on Tuesday at 1 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Tuesday from 12 to 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are in invited to attend.
