Beatrice Saffer, age 87, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Friday, March 17, 2017.
Daughter of the late John Couris and Argiro “Angie” Pappas Couris, and wife of the late Harry J. Saffer, Beatrice was born, raised and educated in Salem. She married her husband Harry at 17 years old and they enjoyed over 70 years of marriage together. Beatrice and Harry settled in Salem and Beatrice went to work for Parker Brothers where she worked as a game assembler. She then left Parker Brothers and spent the rest of her career working in quality control for Sylvania on Loring Ave until her retirement.
Beatrice is survived by; her daughter Denise Webster of Peabody; her son, Salem Firefighter, Daniel Saffer and his wife, Diane of Salem; her grandson Joseph Webster of Plastow, N.H.; her granddaughter, Jamie Lyn Webster and her significant other Hector Montanez of Salisbury; her grandson, Mark Saffer and his wife Cindy of N.H.; her grandson, Michael Saffer of Salem; her granddaughter Jessica Bragan and her husband Mike of Lynn, MA as well as her three great-grandchildren and a large extended family. Beatrice was predeceased by her husband, Harry J. Saffer in April of 2012.
Visitation will take place at St. Vasilios Church, 7 Paleologos Street, Peabody, MA 01960 on March 21st from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Vasilios Church. Interment will be immediately following at Greenlawn Cemetery, 57 Orne Street, Salem, MA 01970.
