Bartholomew "Pat"'s Story
Mr. Bartholomew “Pat” Foley, 85, of Marblehead, formerly of Salem, died unexpectedly, Monday, September 18, 2017 at his home.
Born in Salem he was the son of the late Patrick and Mary (Mello) Foley. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School.
An honorably discharged veteran, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Foley was an honest, hardworking general foreman for the City of Salem’s Public Works Department. He was always ready to lend a hand to others and could always be counted on to get the job done.
Pat was a longtime resident of the City of Salem prior to moving to Marblehead; he was an avid reader who especially enjoyed Westerns and movies about the Old West. He liked watching birds from his window, joking with his family and friends and spending time with his dear friend Virginia Bettencourt. He will be dearly missed.
Pat is survived by his son, Michael Foley and his companion Susan Petrencik, his two grandsons, Nicholas and Kyle, his sister, Frances Cappello of Illinois and several nieces and nephews and extended family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service which will be held graveside in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Orne St. Salem, Monday, October 2nd, at 11 a.m. Assisting the family with the arrangements is The O’Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem.
