Arnold A. "Pick"'s Story
Arnold A. “Pick” Thistlewood, Jr., 75, husband of Nancy M. ( Brown) Thistlewood, died early Thursday morning, May 18, 2017 in his home in Ipswich after a brief illness.
Born in Newburyport on September 6, 1941, he was the son of Marie L. (Kelley) Thistlewood and the late Arnold A. Thistlewood, Sr.
Mr. Thistlewood was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict having served and was honorably discharge from the Marine Corps. He was a lifelong clam digger in Ipswich and Newbury. For many years he was a Shellfish Constable in Essex and Ipswich. He was an active member of the Ipswich Fish and Game Association, he would serve as a Director and was a Chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee. Mr. Thistlewood was a member of the John T. Heard Masonic Lodge of Ipswich and was a life member of the V.F.W. Post# 1093 also of Ipswich. He was a loving husband and father, he was a wonderful man.
Mr. Thistlewood is survived by his wife, Nancy of Ipswich, his mother, Marie L. Cook also of Ipswich. He is survived by his seven children, Karen, Jeff, Jayne, Kim, Kerri, Tanis Rose and Pamela, his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Marie Greaves, his two brothers, Daniel Thistlewood and Roger Thistlewood as well as several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Tuesday, Mary 23, at 11 a.m. in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, 29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich, relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be Monday, May 22nd from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Morris Funeral Home, 45 North Main Street, Ipswich.
