SALEM, MA - Ardis I. Coston, 92, died peacefully on Thursday, February 08, 2018, in Danvers.
She was born on February 12, 1925, in Hartland, Maine, the daughter of Alton and Celia (Salisbury) MacPherson. She graduated from Hartland Academy, and married Francis Coston. She was employed for several years at the canning company in Massachusetts.
Ardis enjoyed cooking, playing cribbage, and camping, both at Len Kay, in New Hampshire, and Moose Pond, in Hartland. She loved being surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her two sons, Berry Coston, and wife Betty, of Salem, Massachusetts, and Don Coston, and wife, Sonja, of Litchfield, Maine; sister, Arlene Updyke, of Pittsfield; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and a very special friend and caregiver, Marie Robinson, of Massachusetts.
She was predeceased by her parents; loving husband, Francis Coston; son, Larry Coston, and his wife, Janice; and brother, Donald MacPherson.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, February 16, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield, Maine. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 17, at the funeral home, with her son, Berry, officiating. A gathering will follow at the funeral home. A spring committal will take place at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Route 152, in Hartland, Maine.
