Wenham - Anne (Conary) Porter, 96, of Wenham died peacefully on July 31 at Hathorne Hill in Danvers.
She was born in Ipswich, to the late Samuel S. Conary and Dorothy (Killam) Conary and was the widow of Robert Guyer Porter.
Mrs. Porter graduated from Wenham Center School in 1936, Beverly High School in 1939 and Chamberlain School of Fashion and Retailing in 1942. She worked in the Adjutant General's office of the Commonwealth of MA, Jordan Marsh Co., Gilchrist's Dept. Store and Almy's Dept. Store in Salem until she married Mr. Porter in December 1944.
Mrs. Porter was an avid tennis player, gardener, lover of nature, and homemaker with an irresistible sense of humor.
She was a charter member of the Wenham Historical Association and member of the Wenham Village Improvement Society.
Mrs. Porter is survived by her daughter, Judith Anne Howard of Harwich Port; granddaughters, Andrea Arden Reese of Valley Cottage, NY, Elizabeth Porter Rickards of Marblehead; grandsons, James W. Howard, III, Jon D. Howard both of Vermont; several great-grandchildren and her longtime caregiver and friend, Nancy Goodwin of Hamilton.
