Andrew's Story

DANVERS - Andrew B. "Sandy" Carlton, 89, a longtime resident of Danvers, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, passed away at home on Monday February 26, 2018, surrounded by his family, following an extended illness.
Born in Manhattan, N.Y., he was the son of the late Nicholas and Mary (Malast) Tsagarakis. He grew up in the Bronx, N.Y., and graduated from the Greek American Institute. After graduation he joined the U.S. Navy near the end of World War II. Following his discharge, he attended Emerson College and studied broadcasting and music production.
Andrew began his career in the recording industry as part owner and President of Syncron Sound Studios, Inc. in Wallingford, Conn., primarily handling equipment sales and record promotions. Andrew was a longtime bartender working at several establishments over the years, in Islamorada, Fla., Cape Cod, the North Shore, and Metro West. To name a few: Andover Country Club, Café Escadrille, Romie's Oyster House, and The Commodore Restaurant. He finally retired from Thompson Country Club at the age of 76.
Andrew was the husband to Ann Lee (Brown) Carlton with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Jeff Carlton of Salem, Mass., and several nieces and nephews.
Andrew enjoyed eating out, traveling and especially his trips to Mohegan Sun and Atlantic City, N.J., over the years.
His family is very grateful to the staff at Care Dimensions for their compassion and kindness in caring for Andrew in his last couple weeks. Special thanks to Lisa Kynvi for her music sessions and Wanda Santana and Caroline for their special care.
