Alice's Story

FORMERLY OF HOLYOKE - Alice (Trudeau) Shepard, formerly of Holyoke, passed away Sunday, January 28, after a long, happy 102 years of life.
Alice was born on January 3, 1916, in Holyoke, Mass., to the late Dolphis and Augustine (LaBonte) Trudeau.
Alice was the beloved wife of the late Howard J. Shepard. She was sister to George, Albert, J. Ernest, and Henry Trudeau. Alice was the loving mother of Michael Shepard and his wife, Sheila of Richmond, Va., and Marsha Shepard and her husband, Robert Girard of Middleton, Mass. She was the cherished grandmother of Sean and Ryan Shepard, and Joy Early; and great-grandmother of Leah and Micah Shepard. She was also the well-loved aunt of Betty Daignault, Christine Gumm, Maureen Smith and Barbara Provost; and a dear friend of Cheryl Camp.
Alice attended Holyoke High School, Class of 1934. She claimed the secret to her long life was reading exciting books, playing cards, being easy-going, and socializing with friends and family.
A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 12, at 10 a.m. at Saint Patrick's Church, 30 Main Street, South Hadley, with burial to follow at Notre Dame Cemetery in South Hadley.
