Alfred W. Cook
Al was born in Springfield, son of the late Alfred and Florence Cook. He spent his youth in New Jersey where he attended school until he enlisted in the Navy. After the war he attended Newark College of Engineering where he earned his Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering.
He spent his 40 year career as a research and development engineer working for RCA and Varian Associates. He held several patents in the field of microwave electronics.
When he retired in 1991 he became active as a volunteer and at various times was a GED tutor, a Senior Care driver and a volunteer at the Beverly Historical Society. He also continued in his hobbies of amateur radio, amateur astronomy and daily walking.
In addition to his wife Pamela, he is survived by a son, Robert and his wife, Tina of Salem, NH, a daughter, Deborah and her husband, Peter Foley of Piscataway N.J. He also leaves two granddaughters, Christina Cook and Caitlin Foley. He was predeceased by his first wife, Florence, a sister, Shirley and his birth mother, Shirley Lunderville.
Services will be held privately. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly.
