Alan F.'s Story
Alan F. LaPointe, 59, passed away peacefully, Sunday, October 8, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Gail (Legere).
Alan was born in Beverly, on August 31, 1958, the son of the late Emile and Claudia (Michalowski) LaPointe. He grew up in Salem, MA attending local schools and graduating from Salem High School. Alan joined the United States Air Force after graduation and served honorably for over eight years. He served in England, Korea and through-out the United States. Alan was a volunteer firefighter for the town of Groveland and a fire dispatcher for Hanscom U.S.A.F. Base. He was married to his beloved wife Gail for 36 years and enjoyed his life with her and their two children.
Alan loved music and was an accomplished guitarist and singer. He enjoyed the outdoors, times with his family and friends and was an avid hockey fan and enjoyed watching and playing hockey.
Alan is survived by his wife, Gail of Groveland, daughter; Sarah LaPointe and significant other, Nils of Merrimac, and son, Bryan LaPointe and wife, Allison of Billerica. He also leaves behind three brothers, Richard Lapointe and wife, Amanda, David and wife, Linda and Thomas, two sisters, MaryAnn and husband, Joseph and Laurie and husband, Daniel. Alan is also survived by several nieces, nephews and countless friends. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Calling hours will be held Friday, October 13, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Grondin–Carnevale Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill, MA 01830. A funeral Mass to celebrate Alan’s life will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Saint John the Baptist Church, 110 Lincoln Ave. Haverhill, MA 01830. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Groveland. In lieu of flowers the family kindly request donations in Alan’s memory be made to The MGH Cancer Center.
